I met Tim Russert exactly two years ago — Fathers’ Day weekend in 2006 — at Politics & Prose in Washington at a reading for Wisdom of Our Fathers.
When it was my turn in line he smiled and addressed the book to my pap. He asked me a little about my grandfather and where we were from. He was warm and naturally inquisitive, and I was touched that he took the extra time to speak with me.
His death is a devastating loss to journalism and coverage of the presidential election that he had been so excited about.
