Nancy Mosser Casting, the Pittsburgh agency that arranged for Tim and me to work as extras last year in “Zach and Miri” and the upcoming “She’s Out of My League,” is holding auditions for an IC Light commercial.

Shoot Dates: January 30 and 31
Each talent will only be needed for one of the two days. Dancers should expect a long day. Talent payment will be made on site in cash once talent has been released and has provided a signed release to our 2nd Assistant Director who will be in charge of talent on set exclusively.
Bar actors: $300
Dancers: $500

All applicants must be at least 25. Marketing protocol? Finally succumbing to demands that beer companies make an effort to make the actors in these ads appear older than college sophomores? I am 24 but suddenly feel like I am 20 years old and can’t get into the club.

Indeed, some organization known as the Beer Institute (har) has set forth guidelines that serve as advertising and marketing code for beer companies. Among them:

  • Models and actors employed to appear in beer advertising and marketing materials should be a minimum of 25 years old, substantiated by proper identification, and should reasonably appear to be over 21 years of age.
  • Beer advertising and marketing materials should not portray persons lacking control over their behavior, movement, or speech as a result of consuming beer or in any way suggest that such conduct is acceptable.
  • Retail outlets where beer is served or sold portrayed in advertising should not be depicted as unkempt or unmanaged.
  • Beer advertising and marketing materials shall only be placed in magazines, on television, or on radio where at least 70% of the audience is expected to be adults of legal drinking age.
  • Billboard advertisements by brewers shall be located at least 500 linear feet from established and conspicuously identified elementary or secondary schools, places of worship, or public playgrounds.
  • Beer advertising and marketing materials should not depict Santa Claus.
